YOGA & HIKING RETREAT AT FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT'S HAWAIIAN MASTERPIECE

Join us for a transformative yoga, meditation and hiking retreat at the only Frank Lloyd Wright home built in Hawaiʻi—an architectural sanctuary perched above the Waiaka Stream on a private, 3-acre gated property between the Kohala Coast and Waimea. This retreat was scheduled to coincide with the peak of the humpback whale season in Hawaii, when the number of whales—and whale sightings—is at its highest.

Each day will include morning meditation, yoga, invigorating hikes through the island’s vibrant landscape, ample free time and delicious, healthy meals prepared with care. 

Watch sun rise and sunset, stargaze, soak in the outdoor lava-rock hot tub overlooking a seasonal stream and majestic vistas and unwind in this uniquely designed home where the upstairs bedrooms seem to float above the expansive main level. 

With panoramic views of three of Hawaii's volcanoes, Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and Hualālai, and just ten minutes from the most beautiful white sand beaches on the island, this retreat offers a rare convergence of embodied practice, mindful movement, natural beauty and the privilege of living within the "organic architecture" design philosophy pioneered by Frank Lloyd Wright which emphasizes harmony between human habitation and the natural world.

This small and intimate retreat is limited to six people. All ages and levels are welcome. And all scheduled activities, including yoga and hiking, are optional.

HISTORY & DESIGN OF THE HOME

Originally conceived for the Cornwell Family in Pennsylvania in 1954, the 3,700 sq. foot passive solar hemicycle home embodies FLW's principles of organic architecture in which the structure blends harmoniously with the natural landscape. A series of towering glass doors topped with windows reveals floor to ceiling views along the entire span of the home. The second floor appears to float over the expansive curved main living area and is in fact suspended from the beams in the hidden steel frame circumnavigating the home.

The home has rounded walls made of coral aggregate block from Oahu, FLW's signature Cherokee-red concrete floors and is built into a hill offering indoor-outdoor living that's sheltered from the consistent trade winds. It is furnished with licensed reproductions of original FLW-designed furniture including his Barrel chairs, Origami chairs and Taliesin floor lamps. The home has extensive built-in seating per the FLW design, as well as custom-built furniture to integrate with the home's round walls. A series of opaque skylights bring natural light into the home and warm lighting behind opaque glass illuminates the house at night.

All amenities have been updated and include a fully equipped modern kitchen, washer and dryer (with detergent provided) and WIFI.

MASTER SUITE: Offering sweeping views, king bed, spacious private balcony, walk-in closet and ensuite bathroom with both shower and separate soaking tub. Double-Occupancy: $3475/person

BEDROOM TWO: With views, queen bed and ensuite bathroom. Single-Occupancy: $3595; Double-Occupancy: $2595

BEDROOM THREE: With two twin beds and ensuite bathroom. Double-Occupancy: $2395/person

INCLUDED: Accommodations, all meals, daily yoga, meditation and hiking with Christy

NOT INCLUDED: Airport and other transfers, excursions, massage and spa treatments, laundry service, alcoholic beverages, tips. 

A non-refundable $750 deposit will hold your space. Subsequent payments are also non-refundable unless we're able to fill the space. Payment schedule: 50% of the remaining balance due three months prior to the start of the retreat; final payment due two months prior to the start of the retreat.
