"ISLAND OF THE GODS"

A Semi-Private Retreat during Nyepi

(Balinese New Year)

"Day of Silence"

~ SOLD OUT ~

Bali's sheer natural beauty with its looming volcanoes, terraced rice fields and lush rainforests is awe-inspiring. But what is most unique about Bali is its spirituality. Known as "Island of the Gods," Bali's deep spiritual tradition blends Hinduism, Buddhism and nature. The island’s mountains and lakes play an essential role in Bali's religious festivities. Over 10,000 temples, pilgrimage sites and shrines are scattered across the island, many of which incorporate beautiful natural elements. And everywhere you see beautiful altars and offerings of fragrant flowers and the sweetest incense.

This semi-silent, semi-private retreat is scheduled to coincide with Balinese New Year, Nyepi or "Day of Silence" (March 22nd) when the Balinese people traditionally observe silence for a day of collective reflection. We'll ease into silence the day before Nyepi and ease out of silence the day after—as a way to honor the place and people and our own deepest, most heartfelt intentions for ourselves and the world.

The retreat includes stays at two different both stunningly beautiful villas, one close to Ubud (the cultural heart of Bali), where we'll be for Nyepi, and the other (which was featured on the cover of Condé Nast Traveler) in the hills of Lovina on the north side of the island, overlooking the Indian ocean.

Each non-travel day will include sunrise meditation; morning "slow flow" yoga; afternoon Yin Yoga or scenic hike, cultural outing and/or free-time; and silence from bedtime till breakfast. Each evening will be a special occasion to dine together at our villa as we indulge in Bali's famously delicious flavors and take in the vistas and serenity. The cuisine will highlight fresh produce and will be primarily plant-based, gluten-free, dairy-free, low salt and using natural/unprocessed sugars (chicken/fish/eggs will be available upon request).

Two Optional Segments:

March 20-25 (five nights) at a stylish and modern, newly built villa surrounded by rice fields with its own yoga shala (and massage room) during which we'll observe traditional Nyepi, "Day of Silence," for Balinese New Year. We'll be in a somewhat remote and rural, quiet location but only 10-15 minutes from the heart of Ubud, the cultural capital of Bali. In addition to daily yoga and meditation, this segment of the retreat will include cultural experiences and dining in Ubud, a ceremony with a priest at a holy water temple and optional hiking. (Two rooms still available.)

March 25-28 (three nights) at a breathtakingly beautiful and stylish villa with exquisite architecture and interior design that was featured in Condé Naste Magazine, in the hills overlooking the sea and seaside town Lovina. The luxurious indoor-outdoor living concept, sea breezes and yoga on the indoor-outdoor covered deck overlooking the infinity pool and sea beyond will surely be a highlight of the trip. (One room still available.)

Join us to experience the incredibly warm, kind, caring hospitality of the Balinese people and the deep spirituality of their culture.

All levels welcome. Couples and singles all welcome.
