SEGMENT TWO

During this second segment of the Bali retreat, we'll spend two nights in one of the most beautiful parts of Bali, among pristine calm waters and mangroves of the Indian Ocean in the exclusive villa of the Menjangan Resort, complete with butler service, located within West Bali National Park.

As the British Telegraph describes it: "Located within the boundary of West Bali National Park, The Menjangan is a beautiful luxury resort that is far from Bali’s regular tourist track. It offers guests the chance to experience some of the island’s best diving, snorkelling and wildlife in superbly peaceful surroundings."

After our restful and rejuvenative stay at Menjangan Resort and West Bali National Park, we'll travel a couple hours with our driver and culture guide, Made Oka, along the scenic, sparsely populated north-west coast of Bali then up into the picturesque mountains of Munduk where we'll stay one night at an extraordinarily beautiful luxury, modern, spacious three-bedroom "cabin" in a peaceful, remote setting surrounded by lush vegetation with spectacular views that extend over the valley, all the way to the sea, with breath-taking sunsets. The location is very quiet except for the sounds of nature. An infinity pool, hot tub, floating fire pit and extremely friendly staff will enhance our enjoyment of this very unique nature retreat and cooler climate located close to lakes and waterfalls that are considered sacred to the Balinese.

After Munduk, we'll continue another 2.5 hours drive south to Sanur Beach where we'll catch a speed boat for a 45-minute ride to Nusa Ceningan Island. At Nusa Ceningan, one of the most beautiful and least visited of Bali's off-shore islands, we'll stay two nights in yet another stunning, modern, elegant, relaxing villa in a "breath-taking location with exceptional views" (according to a recent guest), right on the edge of a turquoise lagoon with a number of seaweed farms. This will be a perfect place to chill by the pool, read on the sun-beds, kayak around the lagoon and soak in paradise.

In travelers Cameron Seagle and Natasha Alden's words:

Just a 45-minute boat ride from Sanur Beach is Nusa Ceningan–one of the Nusa Islands. Nusa Ceningan, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida make up this island group, and a trip to explore them is a great addition to any Bali trip.... The Nusa Islands are fringed by picture-perfect blue waters and soft white sand. With far less infrastructure, the islands see fewer visitors than Bali, offering visitors a more rugged adventure in Indonesia.

Out of the three Nusa islands, Nusa Ceningan is the smallest and located right between Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan. It’s super easy to get to either island.... The blue lagoon is the most popular thing to see on Nusa Ceningan.... Prepare yourself for the lightest blue water you have ever seen. It’s possible to walk around the blue lagoon and see it from different angles, although the rocks can be sharp and painful if you are barefoot....

The Ceningan Cliff Point Hotel and Restaurant [has] an amazing lookout ["cliff walk"] over Nusa Penida.
